Balut Steak

Just sharing this Philippines exotic food,what we called “Balut” a fertilized duck that is boiled, and a good source of protein.

Since it is common as street food, many pinoy loves it.

Here I made it with a twist, not just a boiled balut, but mixed with different spices and took the taste of usual pinoy steak.

Ingredients and Procedures

 

5 pcs. Balut (removed from shell and soup, set aside the soup)

Fried eggplant (optional)

1 medium size sliced bell peper

1 whole sliced white onion 

3 cloves chopped garlic

3 tbsp. soysauce

3 tbsp. calamansi juice

1 pc Laurel

Pinch of sugar 

Conrnstarch (for breading)

Vegetable oil 

 

 

-Smile 🤗

-First remove the balut from shell, and drain.

-roll it on cornstarch and deep fry in veg.oil

-drain it with kitchen napkin/tissue paper to remove excess oil. Set aside.

-In a pan sutaè garlic and add soysauce, sugar, calamansi juice in veg.oil on medium fire.

-add and combine bell pepper and and fried eggplant.

-add the excess soup of balut and bay leaf

-Then last, add and combine the fried balut and gently mix.

-Turn off fire, done and serve.
